Why it matters

Melodies too good to stay hidden

Across India, tribal communities carry musical traditions that have never been written down, never been recorded, and never left the village. When the last person who knows a song stops singing it, it is gone forever.

We are working to help make sure that does not happen — and to make sure the people who kept these songs alive are the ones who benefit from them.
